Please note that by using this website you agree to and are bound by the CarNod Terms & Conditions, and that the information below should read in conjunction with these Terms & Conditions. In the case of any inconsisentcy, the information in the CarNod Terms & Conditions supercedes the information on this page.

No commercial or fake reviews

Any review you post on CarNod must be an honest, accurate and reasonable expression of your own opinion on the product, service or business you are reviewing, based on your direct experience with that product, service or business.

You must not post reviews for any commercial purpose, including reviews that relate to a product, service or business in which you or your immediate family have a financial interest, or for which you are provided with any sort of financial benefit (monetary or otherwise), or related to a business, or the products and services of a business, of which you are an employee or contractor.

To protect the accuracy and integrity of our website, CarNod takes the posting of commercial and fake reviews very seriously. We employ a range of sophisticated systems to identify commercial and fake reviews, and thoroughly investigate any review that we suspect of being fake or posted for commercial purposes.

Significant, long-term penalties apply for the posting of fake or commercial reviews, including (but not limited to) prominently notifying our users that a business, product or service has been the subject of fake or commercial reviews and rating and ranking penalties for these business.

If you have any questions about our policies on fake and commercial reviews, or would like to discuss past transgressions without being penalised then please contact us.

If you believe a review or comment posted on CarNod is fake or commercial then please report it to us.

Moderation and approval process

All reviews submitted by CarNod members are moderated before they become visible to other users of the website.

If you submit a review and it is rejected, you will generally be notified and given a reason for the rejection, and be given an opportunity to edit and re-submit your review.

CarNod will generally only reject a review if it violates our Terms & Conditions or fails to meet our Review & Content Guidelines. However, CarNod reserves the right to reject any review at its absolute discretion.

Review & Content guidelines

All Content that you post on CarNod must:

• Be an expression of your own honest and fair views and opinions.
• If a review, be based on your own direct experience with that product, service or business you are reviewing. You must not post reviews based on here-say, rumours or the experiences of others.
• Be your own original work, which does not contain the intellectual property of anyone else.
• Contain only content that you know (or reasonably believe) is accurate, current and truthful.
• Contain statements of fact that are obviously true or reasonably capable of being proven to support the view or opinion being expressed.
• Be directly relevant to only the product, service or business you are reviewing, or the review that you are commenting on.
• Be written in English and conform to a reasonable standard of spelling and grammar.
• Not contain HTML, JavaScript, or any other form of programming code or mark-up language.
• Not contain promotional material of any kind.
• Not contain any personal or contact information.
• Not contain content that identifies any individual, whether by name, description or any other means.
• Not be posted for any commercial purpose, including reviews or comments that relate to a product, service or business in which you or your immediate family has a financial interest in.
• Not contain threats, content that results from malice or personal hostility, or that is intended to insult or humiliate another person or business, or incite violence, hatred or any other form of persecution against a person or organisation.
• Not contain content that is defamatory to any person or organisation, or slanderous, obscene, indecent or illegal, or considered to be offensive to any reasonable member of the public.
• Not contain content that is discriminatory, sexually explicit or pornographic.
• Not contain content that is false, or is misleading or deceptive, or is likely to mislead or deceive.
• If a review, not be used to respond to or comment on other reviews, and for all Content, not be used for general commentary or discussion, or to attempt to contact another person or organisation.

Tips on writing a good review

Follow these tips to help you write a useful and informative review:

• Make sure your review complies with our Review & Content Guidelines and Term & Conditions.
• Carefully consider your star ratings, and consider each star rating category and your Overall star rating separately.
• Use the Review Comments to explain why you selected the star ratings that you did.
• Don't make broad generalisations - remember that you are expressing your opinion on the specific product, service or business that you are reviewing, based on your specific experiences. For example, "Jack Smith Motors is the worst dealership in town" is a a broad generalisation, whereas "I received terrible service from Jack Smith Motors" is a specific opinion based on your experiences.
• Explain any opinions you express with facts that demonstrate why you formed that opinion - for example, "I received terrible service from Jack Smith Motors, they promised they could deliver my car in two days but it took them four weeks to have it ready for me to pick up".
