2009 Subaru Forester S3 Automatic Limited Edition X MY09

I think the new aggressive wanker-mobile styling of the Forester is a bit of a pity. On one hand, it looks nice with its sleek curves and all, but more often than not my friends who see it are disappointed that Subaru have have dropped the daggier but practical looks of the early 2000s Forester that many people fell in love with. Not everyone wants to look like all the other try-hard Toorak tractor mum in their black SUVs out there these days.
The car is generally a pleasure to drive, and very practical. The fuel consumption is not bad given the size of the car (around 11l per 100km for me), so its a good city car as well as something to take on a roadtrip. Definitely a good car to have if you only own one car.
The main issue I have is with the cheapness of the interior. The plasticy dashboard held together by small plastic tabs rattles like all-hell - so what should be a pleasant, quiet drive is exceedingly irritating. I suppose that it is easy to fix the issue once you have taken apart the steering wheel and located the problem, but it doesn't bode well for the future. They don't make them like they used to!
I can't comment on its reliability as the car has only done 40k, but this car has a reputation for reliability.
