With the brand and prestige of BMW, you'd expect the car to be of better quality and not start falling apart after only 8 years. I've had numerous parts (expensive ones, including occupancy sensor mats @ $1000 each) that have lasted less than 3 years!! Certainly not what you'd expect from a brand that epouses quality like BMW. My next car certainly won't be a BMW! Link
Had a faulty part replaced 3 years ago - occupancy sensor, that controls whether Air bags deploy or not - at a cost of nearly $1000, and the other week had my car serviced, only to be told that the occupancy sensor mat is faulty and needs replacing again, at a cost of $995, and they won't replace it for free. The part should last longer than 3 years, surely. argued that this should be covered under at least a Statutory Warranty, as you'd expect the part to last longer than 3 years. They refused to cover it. It was escalated to the Territory Manager, who also refused to cover it. BMW Group Australia then also declined. The service advisor I dealt with was pleasant enough and waiving of this charge was clearly out of his control, but the whole experience was bad, and they're refusing to budge. With this faulty part, I'm led to believe that no Air Bags will deploy in an accident. Scary Link
